The building was built at the expense of the Rukavishnikov merchant dynasty in 1905. The project of a two-storey building in the Art Nouveau style was designed by architect P. A. Dombrovsky. On the facade was the inscription «The House of Diligence named after Mikhail and Lyubov Rukavishnikov».
